BACKSTORY
Michael picked up the guitar at age 10, finding solace in music through the suburban streets of Rochester. While music was a constant passion, duty called after high school, leading him to serve four years in the U.S. Marines, where he honed his discipline and resilience. After his service, Michael returned to his musical roots, co-founding the Rochester based bands Spiral Staircase and Kissin’ Whiskey with his bandmates. Drawing inspiration from life’s highs and lows, his songwriting reflects the grit and heart of his experiences, channeling influences from artists like Bob Dylan, Jason Isbell, Ryan Adams and Sturgill Simpson. Tracks like "Rochester", “Rise From Below” and “The Pills” from their EP showcase his ability to craft stories that hit close to home. With a growing fanbase and a reputation for electrifying live shows, Michael and Kissin’ Whiskey are poised to leave a lasting mark on the Americana scene, with new music and performances slated for 2025. Michael is set to release is first solo effort (HILL BLOCKS VIEW) in August of 2025. This collection of songs is a deeply personal endeavor, crafted as an introspective dialogue that chronicles his two-year journey of sobriety from alcohol.
